| ASEC 2008 is a two-day conference scheduled
for midway through 2008 directed at structural engineers.
This conference is a time out, providing an opportunity
for like minded people to meet, share ideas and broaden their
technical skills.
ASEC 2008 is directed at time deprived structural
engineers who are looking for a chance to renew their interests
in structural engineering and for researchers to share their
findings. The conference shall be supported by Concrete Institute
of Australia,
Australian Steel Institute, Galvanizers Association of Australia, IStructE,
Association of Consulting Structural Engineers, Victoria
and
IABSE and it is hoped that international
and local engineers can participate.
Opportunities shall be provided for the
presentation 128 papers and the poster sessions. The ASEC
International Scientific Committee (ISC)
shall allocate papers for presentation
at the abstract stage. Presenters who miss out on a formal
presentation shall be offered the opportunity for a poster
presentation. Poster session papers shall be included in
the published papers. Special consideration shall be given
to practitioners who present innovative engineering solutions
to structural problems.
There shall be three plenary presentations
where invited eminent international and local speakers shall
share their experiences. A conference dinner and an engineering
presentation is planned for the Thursday evening.
I encourage you to put aside two days in
June 2008. Submit a paper, or just attend two days of reflection,
learning and renewal in structural engineering at ASEC 2008.
